Moss Landing?

The Moss Landing Vistra Battery Fire started in January 2025, spewing thousands of metrics tons of toxins into the air, sparking major controversy, activism, and community science for the thousands of residents affected by it in Monterey County, CA.

Through investigative filmmaking and scientific inquiry, Lithium on Fire documents a community fighting for justice and explores the larger questions about the future of renewable energy infrastructure, the safety of lithium battery storage, and the true cost of technological progress.

The Moss Landing Vistra Battery Fire started in January 2025, spewing thousands of metrics tons of toxins into the air, sparking major controversy, activism, and community science for the thousands of residents affected by it in Northern Monterey County, CA.

Through investigative filmmaking and scientific inquiry, LITHIUM ON FIRE documents a community fighting for justice and explores the larger questions about the future of renewable energy infrastructure, the safety of lithium battery storage, and the true cost of technological progress.

Please help us make this important documentary about the burning of the largest Lithium-Ion battery energy storage plant in the world.

LITHIUM ON FIRE

It will tell the story of a community that is rallying against big corporations like Vistra and PG&E, without any meaningful support from state-level officials, teaming up with expert scientists locally and around the country to prove they were poisoned from toxic fallout and heavy metal exposure when the Moss Landing Power plant burned for several days in January 2025.

While we expect much of the funding to come from foundations and grants, we need to raise $200,000 of the budget from individual donors.
